The art students at WCHS have been very busy working on advanced techniques this year!
"Mylar monotype is made by student lifting ink from the mylar sheet. It is a reductive process. The final print is achieved by burnishing the ink onto a paper with a wooden spoon. We used multiple colors - orange, green, and blue. It takes about 90 minutes per color. It is one of the most complicated and technically difficult prints to run. Typically it is done at the college level, and not by secondary students. We have had many students win awards at the Scholastic Art Competition using this printmaking technique. " -Don Swartzentruber, art instructor at WCHS.
If you would like to watch the process of these prints being made, here is a video of art students working on their mylar prints. Good job tigers! Keep up the excellent work!
