Warsaw Community Schools to Hold eLearning Day on Friday, January 23 Due to Extreme Cold

After consulting closely with local meteorologists and monitoring forecasted conditions on NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), Warsaw Community Schools (WCS) will operate on an eLearning day on Friday, January 23, due to expected wind gusts and dangerously low wind chills reaching -20° or colder. These conditions are expected to last throughout the day.
Student safety remains the district’s top priority, WCS understands that changes to the school day can be disruptive and appreciates the continued patience and flexibility of families.
As a result of the shift to eLearning, the third-grade circus field trip for tomorrow has been canceled. WCS is grateful that the Shriners will permit these students to still have the opportunity to attend the circus next year when they return as fourth graders.
Families are also reminded that Friday will be the WCS’s final eLearning day. Any weather-related cancellations moving forward will be considered traditional snow days, with required make-up days added to the end of the school year.
At this time, no additional evening or weekend events have been canceled. Warsaw Community Schools will continue to monitor conditions closely and will provide timely updates to families if circumstances change.
Warsaw Community Schools appreciates the support and understanding of its families and community as it continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of students and staff
