Student Council Update
Kristina Kolembe shared an update on Student Council and the upcoming Riley Month activities.
Riley Month kicks off next month with a convocation to build excitement. Students are planning theme days throughout the week to encourage participation and school spirit. Their fundraising goal this year is $3,000. To help reach that goal, Student Council is organizing a movie night and a pickleball tournament.
Kristina also shared that prom will be held on May 2 with the theme: “Enchanted Forest.” Prom tickets are not on sale yet, but more information will be coming soon.
Warsaw Community High School Spotlight
State Wrestling Recognition
Coach Terhune joined Principal Troy Akers to recognize girls’ wrestler, Mariana Castro. This year, Mariana earned a Sectional Championship, placed 3rd at Regionals, and finished 5th at the 2026 IHSAA State Wrestling Meet. She also earned Academic All-State honors; she has had an incredible wrestling career!
Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Recognition
Although they couldn’t be in attendance this evening, Mr. Akers also recognized WCHS students who earned top honors in the 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. WCHS students brought home 19 individual awards, along with a Silver Key in the Senior Portfolio category.
National-Level Distinction
- Senior Kora Rockwell received both a Gold Key and a prestigious American Visions Award nomination for her ceramic and glass sculpture titled “Murky.” This distinction places her work among the top five pieces in the region out of 2,270 entries and advances her to national adjudication .

All-State Honors Choir Recognition
Finally, Mr. Akers and choir teacher, Marilyn Mason, introduced this year’s Indiana All-State Honors Choir students and highlighted the preparation and commitment required to earn this distinction. The following students were selected:
- Abigail Fisher – Soprano
- Hannah Hnem – Alto (unable to attend)
- Gabriel Busz – Tenor
- Roman Silva – Tenor
- Gavin Ott – Bass
- Jack Stevenson – Bass
Additionally, Mrs. Mason shared that several of her choir students competed this past weekend at the 2026 ISSMA State Solo and Ensemble for Vocal and Piano, held February 21 in Indianapolis and had an outstanding performance! Congratuations students!
