Warsaw Community Schools Working Toward “Heart Safe” Certification Through Project ADAM

Warsaw Community Schools is working toward becoming a fully certified Project ADAM “Heart Safe” district by the end of 2026.
Project ADAM is a national initiative that helps schools develop strong cardiac emergency response plans so students, staff, and visitors have the best possible chance of survival in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.
- To earn Heart Safe certification, each school must:
- Develop a Cardiac Emergency Response Plan
- Train a Medical Emergency Response Team
- Ensure AEDs are accessible
- Conduct practice drills
- Demonstrate the ability to apply and use an AED within 3 minutes
As part of this process, we will be conducting scheduled practice drills.
Please know:
- These are planned drills only
- There is no emergency situation
- Students may see police, fire, or EMS vehicles on campus
- Disruption to learning will be minimal
Upcoming drill dates:
- March 17 – Lakeview and Claypool
- March 20 – Edgewood and Leesburg
- TBD: 1-2 additional schools before the end of the year
We are proud to partner with Lutheran EMS and Project ADAM as we continue strengthening safety in every building.
Thank you for your partnership as we work to keep our schools safe. If you have questions, please contact Nurse Coordinator Kennedy Wagner at kwagner@warsawschools.org.
