Board Spotlight
Lutheran Health Network Partnership
The Board recognized and celebrated the continued partnership between Warsaw Community Schools and Lutheran Health Network, with members from both organizations in attendance. This renewed 10-year commitment reflects a strong collaboration focused on enhancing student opportunities and supporting staff wellness.
The partnership continues to provide valuable resources, including athletic training, wellness services, and career-connected learning experiences for students. Board members expressed appreciation for the ongoing investment in the district and its positive impact on student success and community well-being.
WCHS Performing Arts Spotlight
The Board also heard a full-filled (and hands-on) presentation from David Knouse, WCS Assistant Band Director, and Stephanie Coates, elementary music teacher, who highlighted the strength of music programming across the district. They shared the wide range of band, orchestra, and choir opportunities available to students from elementary through high school, along with recent successes. Stephanie also led the board in a music lesson with a class set of boomwackers as they played the song “Eye of the Tiger” together.

Human Resources Report
The Board reviewed and approved the March 2026 Personnel Report, as presented by Steven Boyer.
Out-of-State Travel Approvals
The Board approved several student and staff travel opportunities, including:
- Student trips
- Carson-Newman Flexbone Clinic
- Tyler Connect 2026
- Gordon Food Service Distribution Tour and recipe ideation session
Facilities Update
Approval was granted to advertise bids for upcoming parking lot and lane repairs, supporting continued maintenance and improvement of district facilities.
Financial Overview
The Board reviewed and approved the monthly financial reports, ensuring continued transparency and fiscal responsibility across the district.
The Board approved several generous donations and grant awards that will directly support student learning and resources across schools, including:
- Title IV and Title III grants
- $1,750 to Madison Elementary for 3D printers
- $670 (plus matching funds) to Washington STEM Academy for STEM supplies
- $600 to the WCHS Dream Council for the student and family food pantry
- $20,000 to support WCS Summer School through United Way/Start United
Construction Updates
Jim LeMasters provided an update on current construction projects, outlining progress and ongoing efforts to enhance district facilities.
Superintendent’s Report
Dr. David Hoffert led a discussion around the recent Plainfield Community Middle School site visit as WCS continues to explore options for the middle construction and feedback gathered from participating staff.
