Warsaw Schools Advances Toward Heart Safe District Goal

WARSAW, IN - Warsaw Community Schools (WCS) continues to make strong progress toward becoming a fully certified Project ADAM “Heart Safe” district by the end of 2026.
As part of this ongoing work, Lakeview Middle School and Leesburg Elementary School have completed all requirements for Project ADAM Heart Safe certification after drills conducted on Friday, March 20. Additional WCS schools will continue completing drills throughout the spring and fall 2026 semesters.
Project ADAM is a national initiative focused on preparing schools to respond quickly and effectively to sudden cardiac arrest. Through a partnership with Lutheran EMS, WCS is ensuring every building has the training, planning and resources in place to respond in a life-saving situation.
To earn Heart Safe certification, each school must:
-
Develop a Cardiac Emergency Response Plan
-
Train a Medical Emergency Response Team
-
Ensure AEDs are accessible throughout the building
-
Conduct practice drills
-
Demonstrate the ability to apply and use an AED within three minutes
WCS remains committed to strengthening safety in every building through proactive planning, strong partnerships and ongoing training.
