Academic Spotlight: Warsaw Community High School Advanced Placement Results

WCHS Principal Troy Akers presented the Academic Spotlight. It was a record-setting year for Advanced Placement achievement at Warsaw Community High School.

Mr. Akers reviewed 2026 results alongside a five-year summary of AP performance. In 2026, 251 students participated in AP testing, completing 401 exams. Of those students, 202 earned scores of 3 or higher, resulting in an 80.48% success rate. This represents an increase from 74.30% in 2025 and the highest success rate shown during the five-year period.

Mr. Akers highlighted an important milestone for WCS’s Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program. Last year marked the first time students from the initial DLI cohort took an AP exam as freshmen (which is normally taken as juniors and seniors). Across 48 exams, the students earned a cumulative average score of 3.54, exceeding both state and national averages.

DLI students who earned a 3, 4, or 5 on the AP exam are now advancing to college-level DLI coursework through Indiana University South Bend (IUSB). Several students who earned a 2 also successfully completed a placement exam and will move into the IUSB courses. WCS is excited to see what comes next for these students as the first DLI cohort continues its academic journey and another cohort moves to the high school level as freshman this year. 

Finally, Mr. Akers shared that WCHS earned recognition through the College Board AP Scholar program; WCHS celebrated 32 AP Scholars, 11 AP Scholars with Honor, and 15 AP Scholars with Distinction. 

Human Resources and Financial Update: Mr. Steven Boyer

Steven Boyer, CFO, presented the August 2026 Personnel Report, the July 2026 financial reports and vendor contracts for approval.

The Board also received information regarding permission to advertise the 2027 budget.

Facilities and Construction: Mr. Jim LeMasters

Jim LeMasters provided the School Board with a recap of the summer work at Lakeview.
